The luxury of being a frequent traveller also comes with the lack of routine, a stiff back and the stress from having to live out of a suitcase. For those wanting to stay in shape and also practice mindfulness at the same time whilst travelling, Yoga is the perfect workout. We understand that Yoga is your time to switch off from the world, so the thought of doing it in one of our gyms alongside other guests isn’t quite beneficial. We decided to do our research on the best Yoga moves to do in your hotel room.
Yoga Moves To Do In Your Hotel Room
This Yoga technique is perfect for the morning to help awaken your mind and body as it wakes up your sleepy muscles and increase alertness in your brain. Great if you are away on business and have an early morning meet. Once you’ve learnt how to hold a perfect half moon pose, you’ll soon be forgetting about that early morning cup of coffee you rely on. How to: Place your right fingertips on the floor and your right toes should face forward. Lift your left leg, keeping your torso turned toward the wall. Reach your left arm toward the ceiling. Keep the standing right leg straight, without hyper-flexing the knee. Breathe a deep breath and hold before letting your breath go and repeating the move on the other side.
Another great morning Yoga pose to prepare you for the day ahead. Experienced Yogi’s will tell you how much they love the Warrior stance. It is said to help overcome ego and ignorance. As the warrior stance challenges and tests your ability it is said that in doing so it brings strength, focus, confidence and courage. Perfect for when you know you have an important or challenging day ahead and is a great yoga moves to do in your hotel room. How to: Put your left leg in front of you at a right angle, and your right leg down behind your left as if you were doing a lunge. Position your torso so it’s vertical, facing the wall. Reach your arms away from the torso, sinking your hips deeper. Draw your navel to your spine and gaze beyond the fingertips of your front hand and breathe a deep breath and hold the stance before breathing out relaxing.
This one is brilliant for when returning from a busy day as it stretches out your body and alleviates any aches from sitting down in an uncomfortable chair. It also stimulates blood flow to the brain, resulting in re-energising your mind and helping you to clear your head off any daily stress. How to: Place both feet firmly on the floor and place your fingertips or palms next to the outer edge of each foot. Pull your torso forward for a serious stretch and breathe in deeply and hold. When releasing bring yourself back into standing position slowly.
Child’s Pose is a restful pose that will bring peace and tranquility to the end of your day. It’s great for using the time to meditate and allow the busy thoughts of your day leave your mind, leaving a sense of calm and stillness. How to: You can do this pose on your bed. Sit up comfortably on your heels and roll your torso forward, bringing your forehead to rest on the bed in front of you. Lower your chest as close to your knees as you comfortable can, whilst extending your arms in front of you. Hold the pose whilst breathing in and out slowly. And relax.
This pose is your final resting pose before welcoming in a deep and restful night’s sleep. If you find it difficult in switching off at night and rarely fall asleep easily, this is great for combatting the problem. It will allow you to fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer. No more counting endless amounts of sheep for you. How to: Lying on your back, bring your knees in to your chest and hug them tight. Cross your ankles and wrap both arms around your shins with clasped hands. Inhale and rock your body up to sit before exhaling as you roll back. Continue this for one minute, before rolling back and extending your arms and legs slowly, and drift off into a deep sleep.
