As the autumn breeze enters, it won’t be long until the heaters are on full blast, the jumpers are pulled out from the bottom of the wardrobe and the countdown to Christmas begins. With shops adorning their stores in Christmas decorations, the invites to festive events start rolling in and the talk in the office becomes focused on where you will be having the office Christmas party this year.
As we prepare for the festive enjoyment to begin it is a must to plan a Christmas party with your friends, colleagues or family to kick start the season off in style. As a result here are the top 10 things you will need to get prepared for an unforgettable Christmas party:
1). Planning now is key
You may feel it is too early but in fact it’s almost too late. A lot of groups begin organising their parties in January as it’s a good time to get a really good deal because venues are still setting their Christmas preparations and may hold their discounted previous year prices for you. For those who have left it until now, there’s a lot of demand and the popular nights in certain locations will already be full. DO NOT PANIC… why not consider switching to a midweek date, perhaps a Thursday where there’s still a great party atmosphere but probably more spaces available?
2). Nominate an organiser
Organiser, that is singular not plural! If everyone is the organiser it tends to get messy and confusing with who is doing what and when. If you have a single organiser who can collect that would be the best option. A lot of venues with choice menus will need to get menu pre-orders. Usually around 14 days prior to event but earlier the better, so it’s a good idea to have one person collating all of this!
3). Type of party
You have two desirable options to choose from, do you wish to plan every last detail from food to the theming to the DJ prefer to sit back and let the host do the work for the whole party night? The differences:
Private Party Night – One of the biggest differences is it is a party for just you and your colleagues/friends. Create every last detail, plan venue, catering, music, menu, theming and so on.
Joiner-a-Party Night – Everything is catered for so all you have to do is turn up and you will be booging with other party goers.
4). Type of venue
The type of venue you solely depend on what you and other guests want for your party night. The best place to start is to share options with group and go from there, what are the options?
Do you have a local restaurant that hosts parties or down to the local pub if you want it to be familiar and close? Also to consider is to join other party goers to add to the festive atmosphere. If you have a larger group you have more options here as the total cost will be reduced, per person if ordering in numbers. From a grand castle picturesque settings to a spacious event space at a hotel or similar.
If you want all in attendance send out the invitations early. This will avoid any misunderstanding and most importantly help attendees to book day off in work, arrange childcare, remove the barriers the individual may have.
Depends on the size of your party, may be able to book a number of taxis or alternatively hire a coach to bring the whole party to the venue. When all together, this will add to the atmosphere and get the party started. Most importantly ensure you pre-book your transportation so there are no delays on the day. Another option is making a night of it. A lot of hotels allow you to take advantage of a special party night rate to avoid the stresses of getting home and hopping straight from the dancefloor to a comfortable bed, a desired option if applicable.
7). Pre-ordering drinks
If you are on an All-Inclusive party all drinks are included, if not many venues do have drinks packages available when you order in advance. Check with venue if this is available for your party.
8). Time to party
Time to let your hair down and have an unforgettable Christmas party to remember!
9). Create memories
Take photos, it’s a great way to recapture the good moments from the night. Is also fun to revisit in the early months of the New Year and have a solo/group giggle.
Share the great memories of the night and get feedback to find out what worked and what could be improved for next year so you can ensure you have an even better year than previous.
