Having heard so many amazing and exciting things about Liverpool I couldn't wait to go and explore this vibrant city myself. As soon as we checked in we got a short (and fairly cheap) taxi to Sefton Park where we had a lovely evening stroll, enjoying the lake and luscious green landscapes before making the short walk to Lark Lane which was full of cool bars and restaurants. We went to a place called Milo Lounge, where we had some delicious tapas (I may have also been tempted by their sticky toffee pudding). A great to start to our weekend in Liverpool.
On Saturday we walked for 10-minutes down to the Albert Docks where our first stop was a trip on the Mersey Ferry. We got our position at the front of the boat (wrapping ourselves up in a million coats) as it was a windy day. It was so lovely to see the sights of Liverpool from a different angle, you also learn about the history and heritage of the docks along the way.
We then had a stroll around the beautiful Docks to the other side where we took a visit to The Beatles story museum. I thoroughly enjoyed walking through the different stages of their career and getting such a brilliant insight into them as people.
After this, we decided to have a trip on the big wheel having seen it from across the Docks, another great way to see the whole of Liverpool from a different perspective. The evening was definitely a highlight for me having made our way to Matthew Street and the Cavern Club - what an awesome place to have a drink, watch live music and dance the night away. Anyone who is planning a weekend in Liverpool should visit Matthew Street.
After filling myself up on the lovely hotel cooked breakfast, we made the short walk back into Liverpool city centre, first of all visiting The Maritime museum, which really is a great place to visit for any history lovers, I especially enjoyed the Titanic exhibition. It was then time for one of my favourite things of all, some retail therapy. And where better to do it than at Liverpool One, Liverpool’s very own shopping centre, and wow, what a place to shop.
All in all, I am so glad I have finally visited such a brilliant city, thank you so much to Hallmark Hotel Liverpool Feathers for such a brilliant weekend in Liverpool.
