Carlisle is a must-visit holiday destination for families. On the doorstep of the breath-taking Lake District, you won’t be short of things to see and do.
Why not start your adventure with Carlisle Castle? Its 900-year history is intriguing, and you can discover the castle with a guide who will tell tales of the bloody wars between the English and the Scots.
Your kids can dress up along the way, playing games and taking part in the interactive exhibitions, allowing them to have fun and learn the castle’s amazing history.
This half term Carlisle Castle is running ‘Spooky Castle’, a spine-chilling Halloween event that will involve scary storytelling and a creepy trail!
Carlisle also offers Walby Farm Park, which is a big favourite amongst young families. The park is holding a Half Term Horrible Halloween week, involving pumpkin picking alongside the farm’s usual activities, such as meeting the animals and even feeding them.
After exploring Carlisle and its surrounding countryside, come back to Hallmark Hotel Carlisle and relax in this beautiful Victorian building.
The amazing city of Liverpool is a fantastic place to visit for families looking to make the most of the half term. Liverpool offers everything from awesome museums – such as Walker Art Gallery, World Museum and the Liverpool Museum – to the quirky Mersey Ferry River Cruise Explorer.
If the kids like a little bit of an adventure and detective work, we’d recommend the Liverpool Murder Mystery Treasure Trail. You might find that the grownups enjoy this just as much as the kids!
Liverpool’s Sefton Park is also holding a Spooky Welly Walk this half term; a fun fancy dress walk that raises money for charity as well as being a great activity for all the family.
One final tip for your Liverpudlian half term break is to try out the many restaurants and cafes. The food scene in Liverpool is characterised by an incredibly diverse melting pot of cultures and traditions, so you will be spoilt for choice.
