Timber, The National Forest, 6-8 July
Subtitled The International Forest Festival, Timber will host artists, musicians, scientists and thinkers from across the world. Manchester Eats, Heaton Park, Manchester, 7-8 July
Cleverly dubbed an ‘artisan feast-ival’, Manchester Eats is a carnival of tastes, smells and delectable dishes from around the world. A ticket will grant you access to scrumptious street food, craft ales, and celebrity chef demonstrations. With the interactive Kids' Village, musical performances and crafty workshops, there’s plenty here to keep every generation of the family entertained.

Cambridge Folk Festival, Cherry Hinton Hall, 2-5 August
Held since 1965, Cambridge Folk Festival is one of the oldest folk festivals in the world. Every year, it attracts over 14,000 people for its unique atmosphere and varied collection of musical acts. Acclaimed singer-songwriters, famous names, and world-class acts play the finest country, roots, and blues, with headliners including First Aid Kit, Rosanne Cash, John Prine, and Patti Smith.

In addition to musical performances by the likes of Union J, New Hope Club, Sophia Grace, CBBC superstars such as Mr Tumble, Hacker T Dog, Sam and Mark, Naomi Wilkinson, and Ben Shires will all be putting in an appearance. Throw in previews for shows such as Deadly 60, Saturday Mash Up, and The Worst Witch, plus activity zones, theatre shows and creative workshops, then you have the perfect family day out.

First held in 2013, Glasgow Summer Sessions is an annual series of concerts that attracts up to 100,000 music fans every year. Headlining this year’s three concerts are some of the world’s biggest acts, Kings of Leon, Catfish and the Bottleman, and Kendrick Lamar, plus support acts such as The Wombats, Twin Atlantic, and N.E.R.D.

Bournemouth Air Festival, 30 August–2 September
Held along the beautiful 1.5 mile stretch of beach between Bournemouth and Boscombe Pier, this is the UK’s biggest air festival. On the horizon separating sea and sky, you will see a wide range of powerful aircraft performing aerial displays and military ships manoeuvring. Back on land, there’s funfairs, demonstrations, food and drink, and the Night Air; a fantastic combination of fireworks, entertainment, and live music.
