A weekend in Liverpool: Top things to do
There are so many things to do in Liverpool, that it’s difficult to choose just a few. If you are staying in Liverpool for the weekend, here’s just some of what you need to cram into your stay:
The Beatles Experience is an exhibition that offers insight into Liverpool’s (and arguably the world’s) most iconic band, their culture and music. The Beatles Story is another exhibition devoted to the lives of the Fab Four. The Cavern Club is where the Beatles regularly played. The venue hosts live music every day and acts include a highly acclaimed Beatles tribute band.
The Albert Dock is an area containing museums, restaurants and bars. There you will find the Tate gallery, home to modern art, and the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Liverpool’s rich maritime history. The International Slavery Museum looks at Liverpool’s role in the slave trade and how it has affected the city.
This modern centre is Liverpool’s premier shopping district. As well as the usual high street shops, Liverpool One is home to designer brands where you can purchase iconic fashion from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Prada and Dolce & Gabanna.
The people of Liverpool are noted for their sense of humour, and there are many comedy venues in the city. The top places for giggles are the Laughterhouse Comedy Club and the Hot Water Comedy Club. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic hosts classical, pop, folk and jazz concerts. For the best musicals and plays, go to the Empire Theatre or the Royal Court Theatre.
After a hectic day’s activities in Liverpool unwind at either Best Western Hallmark Hotel Liverpool Feathers or Best Western Hallmark Hotel Liverpool Alicia. Eat in a Hallmark Hotel restaurant for the best in locally sourced British and international cuisine.
