A weekend in Gloucester: Top things to do

Architecture

The pride of Gloucester is its cathedral. This dramatic and elegant building dates from the 11th Century, although the magnificent stained glass Great East Window was installed in the 1350s. Gloucester Docks is an inland port developed after the ship canal was built. It prospered in the 19th and early 20th Centuries, but declined after the 1960s. In the 1980s, the docks were transformed from dereliction when they were developed for retail, leisure, and residential use.

Museums and art galleries
