A Guide To The Best Halloween Television
It’s nearly Halloween which of course means the return of Halloween television specials, some of which are classics. We have rounded up the best of the best for you.
Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror V
'Treehouse of Horror' is a well established annual special from your favourite springfield family. In the pick of the segments “The Shinning” Homer is deprived of television and beer which causes him to go insane and try to murder his own family. An excellent homage to the classic film!
How I Met Your Mother - The Slutty Pumpkin
As we know Halloween is massive in America, even bigger than it is the UK so it’s no surprise that American TV has produced some absolute Halloween gold over the years. The ‘Slutty Pumpkin’ brings out the fun in Halloween, with some hilarious costumes and of course Barney Stinson. Will Ted find his Slutty Pumpkin?
Friends - The One with the Halloween Party
Another classic from our friends overseas - 'Friends' certainly needs no introduction and neither does Chandler when he walks into the party in his pink bunny costume. Also in this episode - Rachel gives you some tips on how NOT to deal with trick-or-treaters with some interesting consequences.
Garfield’s Halloween Adventure
Everyone’s favourite cat appears in this Halloween special which was funny and equally terrifying as a young child. Clowns are terrifying and Binky is no exception. Watch Garfield in the darkest episode of the show you’ve ever seen.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Probably the greatest Halloween episode ever, this year marks its 50th year. Linus is determined to see the Great Pumpkin but the rest of the gang aren’t convinced about its existence. Snoopy also makes an appearance as his alter ego the World War I flying ace. A timeless classic.
A Scooby-Doo Halloween
The mystery machine gang visit Velma's relatives during a Halloween festival headlined by KISS, but the festivities are interrupted by the ghost of the town's founder and living scarecrows. The Great Dane is on fine form and the usual hilarious gags are out in force.
Blackadder - The Foretelling
It features a ghost so we’re including it! No Halloween is complete without a chuckle over the ghost of Uncle Richard III, it’s so funny that your head may fall off with all the laughter. The show presents the alternative history of King Richard IV in a typical Blackadder way.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Fear, Itself
Our Vampire Slayer turns it up a notch in this instalment of her series. In this episode Gachnar, a demon is accidentally conjured and terrorises a Halloween party, leading Buffy and her friends to confront their worst fears.
So, that's the end of our Halloween television guide, let's see if the good folks in television provide us with any more instant classics this year.
