School pupils learn to cook 'Best of British'

Pupils from the Linwood School in Bournemouth were given a Cookery Master-class by Jamie Perry, Executive Head Chef of Hallmark Hotel, on Bournemouth's West Cliff. Six pupils gathered at the hotel where they were guided by Jamie to create a three course meal.

The students were given a theoretical cookery lesson first and were then let loose to create their own version of a number of classic British delights. Jamie Perry said: "It was brilliant seeing the kids at work. Now they'll be able to really impress their families when they get home." Each child took away a sample of what they'd created on the day to present to their families.

General Manager of the hotel, Helen Hall, added: "We are delighted to have been engaged with the Linwood School for this project. Their ethos is all about creating opportunities for everyone and enjoying their achievements, which is something we strive for here at the hotel too. Education takes on so many various guises and we hope that this may inspire one or two of them to consider future careers in Hospitality."

Steve Brown, Headmaster of Linwood School, said: "Thank you to Jamie and the team at Hallmark for giving our students this opportunity to learn from the best. They clearly had a fantastic time and enjoyed the delicious delights they were able to make, and were proud to present their creations to their families."
