SAUCY SCALLOPS LAND HEAD CHEF IN COMPETITION FINAL

Five budding chefs have battled their way through to the finals of the Hellmann’s Vinaigrette Competition. The ‘Design a Dish’ contest sees chefs from across the country being asked to create the ‘coolest dish of the season’ using one of Hellmann’s five vinaigrettes.

From desserts to main courses, many applications were received but after much debate, the judges have announced their top 5 entries. One of those finalists is Jamie Perry, Head Chef of Bournemouth’s prestigious Hallmark Hotel. His creatively delicious entry of ‘Citrus Scallops with Celeriac Remoulade’ saw him sail through to the final.

However, Jamie is no stranger to public recognition, having previously won a gold award from The Wessex Salon Culinaire – the UK’s youngest chef competition. His mutton pie with rosemary and honey roasted root vegetables also reached the finals of the England’s Best Steak Pie competition.

Jamie said: “I can’t believe I’m in the top five. I love cooking, I always will but this is what every Chef dreams of – these are pinnacle moments to my career. I really hope that people will take the time to vote. After all, without them, I will not stand a chance. Let’s hope the people of Bournemouth, Dorset and from all over the country like the Citrus Scallop dish and make me the Hellman’s Vinaigrette king.”

For one talented winner, up for grabs is a once in a lifetime trip to New York. So who will be the lucky one? Well that is down to the public to decide. To cast your vote, head on over to www.hellmannsdressingsforchefs.co.uk. Once you have picked your favourite dish, you will be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 iPod Shuffles. Voting closes on the 22 July.

Also fighting for first place is Angela Maiorano with her ‘Oriental Sea Bass with Stir Fry Vegetables and Colin Scott with a ‘Warm Sesame Duck Salad. Steven Smith entered a ‘Balsamic Strawberry Salad with a Creme Fraiche Sorbet and finally James Thompson submitted a ‘Lemon Meringue Pie with Fresh Raspberries.’
