HOTEL MANAGERS RUN 5K FOR DORSET BLIND ASSOCIATION

Raising money for charity is always a worthy cause. Just being able to have your friends and family supporting you as you take on a challenge always feels great.

So with the hype surrounding charity running races such as the London Marathon and Race For Life, Dorset recently had its share of the limelight.

On Sunday 24th July, The Hengistbury Hundreds was run by the brave and the bold of Dorset. Hundreds gathered to run throughout Southbourne, in aid of The Dorset Blind Association.

This year Helen Hall, Hallmark Hotel’s General Manager and Katie Hedley the hotel’s Sales Manager, joined forces to run five kilometres. After having registered at St Catherine’s Path - near the Bistro on the Beach – the pair set off at 9.15am on what turned out to be a sunny summer’s day.

Their route followed the seafront promenade, running along flat surfaces, and friends, family and the general public were in attendance to cheer them on.

Helen Hall, Hallmark Hotel’s General Manager said: “We had a fantastic time! I’m really glad that we ran the 5k and I’m glad that the Hallmark Hotel could be part of something as incredible as this. Raising money for the Dorset Blind Association has been a pleasure. It was such a lovely day and a really successful event overall. Best of all, we both ran the 5 kms in a very respectable time!”

Katie Hedley, Hallmark Hotel’s Sales Director agreed and said: “We really put our preparation into practice! I’ve enjoyed having a running partner and raising money together, so it’s been a bit of fun. I’m hoping that in future we can raise even more money and help Dorset’s Blind Association in whatever way we can.”
