Eat and drink

People vote with their feet so a loyal local clientele is always a sign of good food – a mark of consistent quality. So we’re delighted to report that our brasserie, with its warm red and ochre décor and informal yet attentive service, is as big a hit with people from Mickleover and Derby as it is with hotel guests.

Using fine seasonal ingredients, our first rate kitchen produces a menu with something for every taste bud. You’ll find the likes of spiced lamb tagine, pan fried seabass fillet, Teriyaki salmon and mushroom ravioli, alongside beer battered local fish and chips, Kansas style bbq glazed spare ribs, 10oz ribeye steaks and our signature burgers. If you’ve any room left, you can try our refreshing lemon tart with clotted cream or our banana split sundae with sticky toffee fudge ice cream and whipped cream.

Finally, if you want to kick start your day, or put a pep in your mid-morning work step, with a hit of caffeine, we offer Starbucks with its vast range of coffee styles and flavours.

Meet our head chef

Name: Steve Barton

Previous experience: 47 year experience within the catering industry. Event catering as head chef for a variety of hotels, racecourses, Wimbledon tennis, golf clubs and film set catering (Hot Fuzz and Wimbledon films). Operated as head chef for 5* and 4* hotels.

Signature dish: Beer battered fish and chips

How to make Steve Barton's signature dish at home

Ingredients:

Cod fillet | batter mix | draught bitter | soda water | potatoes |mushy peas | tartare sauce | lemon wedge

Method:

1. Mix all of the batter together the with beer and soda solution.
2. Batter the cod fillet and then deep fry until crispy.
3. Cut the potatoes into chunky chips, then deep fry until crispy.
4. Heat up mushy peas in small dish.
5. Put tartare sauce in small dish.
6. When all cooked place fish on raft of chips, with a lemon garnish
7. Serve with a side of mushy peas and tartare sauce
8. Enjoy!

Healthy option on our menu: For your main course, why not try our delicious Superfood Salad - roasted squash, red peppers, quinoa, edamame beans, baby kale, pomegranate and chilli-roasted seeds, with a balsamic, raspberry and black pepper dressing.

Breakfast

We offer a delicious breakfast buffet, including cooked and continental breakfast items. We are more than happy to provide table service for our guests on request. We also offer a wide choice of dishes cooked to order like omelettes, poached haddock, porridge, kippers and poached eggs. Vegetarian breakfast options are also available.

24 Hour room service

All our menus are available for room service delivery, between 10.00 and 22.00. After 22.00, we offer our takeaway menu with pizzas, hot dogs, nachos and sandwiches. We also offer a 24 hour drinks room service for our residents.
