A Weekend In Derby
This is my final weekend blogging with Hallmark Hotels and this time I am spending a weekend in Derby. Where better to start than at the Cathedral Quarter in Derby’s city centre which is full of shops, historic buildings and plenty of lovely bars, cafes and restaurants. It really was the perfect place to do some Christmas shopping. Once I felt satisfied with my retail therapy, we headed to an awesome restaurant called Carnero Lounge, which I highly recommend. And of course, whilst with my mum, the evening was finished with a lovely glass of Prosecco in the hotel bar.
We began day two with a short 15-minute drive to The National Brewery Centre in Burton-On-Trent, which really is a great day out, especially if you are a Beer lover and not just because of the beer tasting at the end. I’m really not a beer drinker and I found the whole thing really interesting. I would also recommend one of their tours which gave a great insight into the history and tells you some funny facts along the way. We couldn’t leave without enjoying a spot of lunch in the bar and restaurant before heading back to the hotel. It was then time to enjoy the leisure centre facilities with a late afternoon swim and a relaxing sit down in the jacuzzi.
On the final day, we headed to Kedleston Hall which was just a 10-minute drive from the hotel and is an absolutely beautiful English country house with an enormous amount of grounds to explore. From a stunning lake to wonderful woodland areas, there really was so much to explore and is a great place to go for a country walk.
Thank you so much to Hallmark Hotel Derby Mickleover Court for such a wonderful and relaxing weekend in Derby.
