A Weekend in Cambridge
After checking in at Hallmark Hotel Cambridge I could not wait to go and explore the beautiful city I had heard so many wonderful things about, and it didn’t disappoint. First on our weekend in Cambridge itinerary was a trip up Great St Mary’s Church to see the panoramic views, and it really was worth it. You can see a 360° view of the whole of Cambridge and it is so lovely to see it from such heights. After that, we were ready for some food and a drink, and where better to relax and enjoy something to eat than in the hotel bar, which overlooks the grounds and the amazing golf course, which has even held professional tournaments including the PGA East Anglian Open (for all you golf lovers out there).
Saturday was jam packed with lots of ‘touristy’ but wonderful things to do in Cambridge and first up was punting on the River Cam, which was actually a huge highlight for me. I absolutely loved it, not only can you sit and enjoy a relaxing journey down the River Cam, but you get to see all the beautiful buildings within Cambridge from a completely different angle. Plus, you learn a whole load of history given to you by your punter along the way. Next up was an open top bus around Cambridge, where you can hop on and off at your own leisure. This was a great way to get around and see different parts of this historic city (and luckily you can head downstairs into the warm if it starts to rain on you like it did for us). Saturday was an evening of theatre, and we were off to see Pride and Prejudice at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, the perfect way to end the day.
On Sunday we couldn’t leave Cambridge without doing one of their amazing bike tours which was another absolute highlight for me. I had seen so many bikers around Cambridge and I couldn’t wait to get back on a bike (it had been a while) and explore Cambridge even more. Cycling along the river and through the city is just so wonderful, and the tour guide at Cambridge Bike Tours was absolutely brilliant. You go at such a leisurely pace so you can soak in everything Cambridge has to offer while hearing some really great facts.
Thank you so much to Hallmark Hotel Cambridge for such a beautiful and historic weekend in Cambridge.
