With a new season comes change, and we don’t just mean with the weather. Spring is a time known for its new beginnings, with life coming into bloom it is a positive and exciting time of the year. Spring cleaning isn’t just for your home, take the new season as an opportunity to dust off the cobwebs with our six ways to spring clean your life.
De-clutter Your Home
They say a tidy house is a tidy mind, so where better to start in your detox than with a spring clean of your house. Go through each room in your home and think about how you want that room to look and feel. If it feels cluttered, then it’s time to organise your chaos. Be ruthless, if you find something that you haven’t used in a while or that has no sentimental value to you anymore then get rid of it. It’s taking up valuable space in your home and your life. If you decide to fully renovate your rooms then consider spending a few days at one of our hotels whilst your home is decorated.
Clear Your Mind
It isn’t just our homes that become cluttered, it’s our minds too and when that’s the case it can be quite overwhelming and difficult to be productive. If you feel like you’re constantly being pulled from pillar to post and have a to-do list as long as your arm then you need to take control. Meditating is a wonderful practice to learn to reduce stress, provide clarity, beat anxiety and improve concentration. Take ten minutes out of your day to practice being mindful, you’ll soon start to notice the difference it has on your brain. You can find more tips for meditation here.
Try Something New
Revitalise your life with a new activity. Make time for introducing a new hobby into your life. It could be something that you keep saying to your loved ones that you want to start but have never found the time, or it could be a childhood hobby that you regret quitting. Whatever it is, now is the perfect time to clear your life of one activity that you dread doing and use the valuable time on something else that you love. It could be something exhilarating like learning to surf or something more relaxed like learning to cook, whatever it is, go and enjoy your new hobby. You can find inspiration in Laura The Explorer’s best year with us here.
Spring cleaning your diet can really help your body and mind to feel more energised. You don’t need to completely overhaul on your eating habits but increasing your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables and reducing the number of processed foods in your diet will really help. You could commit to a short detox to completely eliminate the body of everyday toxins, try and cut out processed sugary foods, dairy and alcohol for a week. Your summer body will thank you for it! If you happen to stay with us, you can still stick to healthy eating as we have dishes on the menu that tick all the boxes.
Having a healthy diet is all well and good, but you need to get your body moving too. Exercise releases endorphins which trigger a positive feeling in the body. So, if you feel like you’ve been slacking on physical movement it’s time to make a change. Go for a run in a local park, start doing yoga (you can learn some moves here), or join a gym; the commitment to a membership will give you the push into going regularly. If you’re local to any of our fitness facilities, then you’ll find it’s hugely rewarding to take out a gym membership with us. You can see our membership options here.
A spring clean of your life is all about making you happy, so what better way to rejuvenate your body and escape the stresses of daily life than to pamper yourself with a relaxing spa treatment? It’s a perfect way to enjoy some down time so cleanse your mind and body with some holistic therapy. It is believed that a massage supports healing and boosts your mood and energy.
