My Weekend In Gloucester
First on the to-do list for my weekend in Gloucester was the Prinknash Bird and Deer Park, as a massive animal lover, I couldn’t wait. From exotic birds to reindeer’s, and pygmy goats to fallow deer, this really is a lovely place for all the family, and what makes it even better is that you can feed the different animals along the way. I have to admit my favourite moments was when the 3-month-old fallow deer named Lottie came running over to me for food, they really are such wonderful animals and I felt like I had made a friend.
Next up was something I had been excited and scared about at the same time, it was my first ever ski lesson. Wow, what a fantastic sport to have a go at, plus Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre is just on the doorstep of the hotel. It’s the perfect location, you can even see the ski slope from the reception of the hotel. I really do feel like I have found a hobby I would love to continue. To finish the evening we headed down to Hallmark Hotel’s very own murder mystery evening, so if you enjoy a 3 course meal, meeting new people and a spot of drama and fun, I would definitely recommend this.
Saturday began with a tour around the wonderful Gloucester Cathedral, which is also a location for some of the Harry Potter films and you can see why when you see how grand and beautiful it is inside. I did a tour of the Crypt and it was so fascinating to hear all the history of how the Cathedral started and what it was once used for. It was then of to the Gloucester Quays to check out their annual Victorian Christmas Market, which happens every year just before Christmas and always has such a spectacular atmosphere. With numerous food stalls, gift stalls, an ice rink and carousel, it really is such a magical place for all ages, I even had the best Churros I have ever tasted.
On Sunday we headed back to Gloucester Quays and the Historic Docks to check out the waterfront, the outlet, where of course I did some great christmas shopping, and as there were a number of bars and restaurants, it was easy to find somewhere for a spot of lunch before heading home.
Thank you so much to Hallmark Hotel Gloucester for such a magical and adventurous weekend in Gloucester.
