Coastal BID reports that visitors to Bournemouth contributes £425m to the local economy. In 2013 Bournemouth won the most coveted tourism award as the ‘Best UK Coastal Resort’. The National Coastal Tourism Academy explains that, ‘The Award is the largest and most prestigious consumer voted award programme in the UK, based on more than one million public votes for 264 travel companies. Voting is done through a series of national newspapers, including Daily and Sunday Mirror, Daily and Sunday Record, alongside promotion in major regional titles across the UK.’
VisitBritain reports that, ‘the tourism industry could create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the next few years and grow by 3.8 per cent a year – faster than manufacturing, construction or retail.’ Currently on average 4.7m people visit Bournemouth each year. According to Samantha Richardson, director of Bournemouth’s new National Coastal Tourism Academy, ‘VisitBritain’s forecasts on UK inbound tourism to grow from £21bn in 2013 to a massive £57bn by 2025 is nothing but good news for Bournemouth’s tourism economy.’

The Lighthouse- This is the largest arts centre outside of London which hosts a variety of theatre, films and live acts. Lighthouse is the home venue to the prestigious Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
